Reverend Janice Preston is a humble and gifted servant of the Lord whose ultimate aspiration is to do the will of God. Through the freedom and liberation God has given to His people, she desires to see them use their deliverance to set other people free as well. Reverend Preston seeks to encourage, empower and equip God’s people to develop authentic relationships with Jesus Christ and with one another.
A published author and motivational speaker, Reverend Preston accepted the call to preach and teach the gospel in 2010. On the gospel field for Jesus Christ, she has worked faithfully in ministry in numerous leadership roles. Reverend Preston established and developed the “Still I Rise” empowerment series at Macedonia Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia. This series focuses on real-life issues including depression, mental health, suicidal ideation, and domestic violence—issues some women face daily. In 2020 during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, Reverend Preston established Chosen and Covered Ministries (CCM), which continues the work she began with the “Still I Rise” series. Reverend Preston has dedicated her life to serving others through various charities and non-profit organizations. In her book
I’ve Got Issues, But I’m Covered! Reverend Preston offers biblical advice, guidance, and direction to women who seek to change the trajectory of their lives by incorporating God’s principles in their daily living. Recently, Olive Branch Community Church joined Sandy Spring Museum along with other community partners in the museum’s 2024-2025 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read initiative. Because of this partnership, Reverend Preston was featured in
The Greater Olney News, for during the church’s celebratory International Sunday, she highlighted experiences from her own missionary “home-going” to Ghana.
Janice Preston was licensed to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ in May 2012, under the Pastorate of Reverend Dr. Leonard L. Hamlin, Sr., then Senior Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia. In July 2022, she was ordained under the Pastorate of Reverend Dr. Donald R. Kelly, Senior Pastor of Olive Branch Community Church in Sandy Spring, Maryland. Reverend Preston currently serves as Church Administrator of Olive Branch Community Church.
Reverend Preston began her formal journey to ministry at Trinity College in Washington, DC, and she graduated with honors from the Lancaster Bible College & Capital Bible Seminary in Pennsylvania in 2014, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Biblical Studies. In May 2022, she received the Master of Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC.
Indeed, Reverend Preston’s goal to enhance both horizontal and vertical relationships in the lives of others has been made attainable because of her faith and her commitment to do the will of God.
